The commissioning process was created in recognition of the unique and often opposing objectives of the various engineers, vendors, and contractors normally involved in major construction projects. Often, these projects were without an objective third-party to compare installed conditions with the owner’s and designer’s intent, to resolve disputes and to seek creative long-term solutions to problems. Too often an owner or developer was forced to execute final payment and accept equipment during the hectic last weeks of a lengthy construction project without complete confidence that all systems and equipment were properly installed.
Boyken International has developed a detailed and systematized approach to commissioning, acceptance testing, and the equipment start-up for new buildings or redeveloped projects. This proven approach validates that all systems and equipment work properly when the building is occupied and serves as a process to train the engineering team that will be operating the building.
Boyken International is uniquely positioned to manage the start-up and the commissioning process. Boyken International typically has a long-term interest in the success of the project and our thorough understanding and knowledge of the management and operation of buildings allows us to resolve problems with a clear focus on the overall goals and objectives of the owner. This perspective is invaluable during this phase of a project.
