Boyken Fall 2008 Newsletter - Projects in the Making - The Dorado Beach Grand Resort
The Dorado Beach Grand Resort
Dorado, Puerto Rico

The Dorado Beach Grand Resort in Dorado, Puerto Rico includes the 506-room former Hyatt Regency Hotel (also known as the Cerromar Hotel) and the 262-room Dorado Beach Hotel. The Caribbean Property Group, LLC has prepared an overall project review with a view to repositioning the 963-acre resort to become Puerto Rico’s only ultra-luxury 6 star resort. The hotel dates from 1972 and was closed in 2003.

Boyken International was engaged by the owners as part of the due diligence process to visually inspect the Hyatt Regency Hotel and the Dorado Beach Hotel properties in their current condition, identify any observable deficiencies, and confirm conformance with applicable codes and ADA requirements. Boyken established priorities of action items and provided estimates to correct the deficiencies noted in the inspections. Boyken presented its findings to the owner which allowed them to finalize funding measures, create a preliminary budget for the construction activities to follow and determine the overall schedule sequence to convert the projects.
