Boyken International served as Boston University Medical Center’s cost consultant through the design phase of the National Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratory (NEIDL) located at the Bio-Square of the Boston University Medical Center Campus in Boston, Massachusetts. The facility is a state-of-the-art high containment research facility promoting world-class biomedical research on infectious disease. The facility houses BSL 2 labs, BSL 3 labs, BSL 4 labs and lab support spaces, as well as administration areas.
Boyken provided value to the owner through in-depth reconciliation of costs during the design phase with the appointed construction manager at-risk. This led to better control of costs during construction with fewer then normal change orders required.
