The Cancer Center of Excellence, located on the 9th and 10th floors of an existing hospital, needed to be programmed, designed and constructed while the rest of the hospital continued normal operations. The construction value was $31.6 million and the facility opened in January 2003.

 

Boyken International provided Program Management and on-site staff to assist hospital personnel in the administration of the construction contract. Boyken International was challenged by the State Agency overseeing the project to shorten the normal 30-month development program to 14 months to meet the criteria for the cancer center. After developing the client’s criteria into a program document, Boyken International employed a design/build approach that met the time and budget requirements without disruption to hospital operations.
